Preventative health, based on the idea that food is fuel, has taken a backseat to the quickly growing world of fast food. Each day, millions of Americans partake in America’s favorite pastime – eating. The average American eats three meals a day, each consisting of approximately 1,200 calories. That adds up to approximately 36,000 calories per week or 2,080,000 calories each year. Most people think that eating thin foods and avoiding fats and oils is healthy, but it is actually the opposite. In reality, it is far healthier to eat foods high in vitamins A and E, omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants than skimping out on them just because the food item has fat or oil listed as the primary ingredient.

Since the turn of the 21st century, we have seen a dramatic increase in weight gain and poor nutrition among Americans. As a result, there has been an increase in health-related issues such as heart disease, cancer, and high blood pressure. While much has been done to combat this problem by both the government and public interest groups, there is still much work to be done to help America overcome its battle with obesity. The key to solving this problem lies in educating people of all ages - children, young adults, and seniors alike - about healthy eating habits as well as increasing their physical activity.

A lot of people neglect their health these days, but it's critical to take care of your body. Fitness starts with a healthy diet. If you are like hundreds of thousands of other people, you will want to look good and feel great on the beach (or lake) this summer.

This is exactly why we have put together our Fearless Recipes for optimal health and fitness while still being able to enjoy all the Summer activities. The summer is also a great time to try something new, like cooking a few recipes that are healthy and easy to prepare.

Remember, when looking for a delicious and healthy diet, it is important to look for foods with nutritional benefits.
